The National Science Foundation has launched a Web-based resource seeking guidance on how to effectively interact with K-12 teachers as part of National Lab Day, a grassroots effort to invigorate science education. National Lab Day is a volunteer effort designed to form communities of support around science, technology, engineering and mathematics teachers and to connect them with professionals who will share their expertise as well as their excitement and passion for their disciplines.

After 39 years in public education, Dr. Stephen F. Ronnenkamp, Superintendent of the Granite School District, has announced his retirement, effective August 1, 2010. The announcement follows the Granite Board of Education’s renewal of his contract for an additional two-year term earlier this year. “With the realization that the board has now granted me an additional two years, it is with heavy heart that I inform you of my intent to retire,” said Superintendent Ronnenkamp.
The total number of employers planning to hire recent college graduates in 2010, 44 percent, is relatively unchanged from 43 percent in 2009 and is down from a high of 79 percent in 2007. However, one in five employers who are hiring recent college graduates said they will hire more than they did last year.

A newly released Utah State University-U.S. Department of Energy study estimates that a modest 50-megawatt wind power development near Monticello in San Juan County, Utah, could generate during its construction more than $31 million in economic output for the state of Utah.
