Eleven elementary schools in the Weber School District have announced open enrollment for a period ending in mid-February.  Several Jr. High and High Schools are also open during the period.

A team from the University of Utah with a bionic arm for ultrasound clinicians won the annual techTitans idea competition earlier this month. Teams from across the state competed in the competition at the U of U. The winning teams survived several rounds of judging by local professors and business professionals who evaluated the merit of their ideas.

A Utah Valley University aviation student and a UVU instructor were killed when their plane went down in southern Utah County Wednesday. The islands of Samoa have some of the highest rates of rheumatic heart disease in the world. Often, patients as young as 15 must have heart surgery. The only way to prevent rheumatic heart disease from developing is to screen young patients and educate them and their parents on what to do should the symptoms arise. A group of UVU students will do just that in Samoa next summer.

The U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education awarded a Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions grant to the Utah State University-College of Eastern Utah San Juan campus to improve its capacity to serve Native Americans. Our goal in Utah is have 66% of our adult population with some form of post secondary education credential by 2020. he number of students attending Utah?s colleges and universities continues to surge. The Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) enrollment for the Fall 2010 semester increased by 6,389 full-time equivalent students?an increase of 6.2%. This is the third straight year enrollment has seen strong growth, with each institution seeing growth in full-time equivalent students.
