State Treasurer Ellis Receives National Award
August 15, 2011
(Burlington, Vermont) - Today Utah State Treasurer Richard K. Ellis was presented with the 2011 National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) President's award.
Each year, the president of the NASACT selects a state treasurer, a state auditor and a state comptroller to be recognized with a NASACT President's Award for outstanding contributions to the association's efforts. Treasurer Ellis was the state treasurer recipient.
The award was presented by NASACT President Nancy K. Kopp, state treasurer of Maryland. NASACT President Kopp cited many of Treasurer Ellis's contributions to the association, noting his work representing NASACT in discussions with the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board and conveying NASACT's views to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regarding governmental financial reporting and improvements to the overall municipal securities market. She emphasized that Treasurer Ellis' "input and expertise in these areas were a great asset to the association during the year."
In fiscal year 2011, Treasurer Ellis served as vice-chair of NASACT's Governmental Accounting Standards and Market Oversight Committee and as a member of NASACT's Executive Committee.
