Thomas E. Patterson
Thomas E. Patterson (Tom) was appointed Executive Director of the Utah Department of Corrections by Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. on January 5, 2007.
Immediately prior to his work with Utah Department of Corrections, Director Patterson served within the Governor's Office as the Executive Director of the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ).
He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and went on to Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas where he obtained his juris doctorate degree. Director Patterson's career also includes service as Rush County Attorney (Kansas); Chief Administrative Law Judge and legal counsel with the Utah Department of Workforce Services; and Director of the Utah Sentencing Commission.
