SUU Gymnastics claimed its tenth academic national championship since 1993 as the team finished with a combined grade point average of 3.8923 to earn the award for the 2009-10 season.

University of Utah Health Care and the U School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry will break ground July 7 on a new 80-bed, 120,000 square-foot expansion to the University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI). The Pacific-10 Conference announced today that the University of Utah has accepted an invitation to join the Conference as its 12th member. The Utes and the University of Colorado, which accepted an invitation to join the Pac-10 last week, are the Conference's newest members since 1978. On Monday, June 14, Utah Valley University celebrated its second completed home in a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Utah County during a ribbon-cutting. For two years, Rebecca Horn, director of the Latin American Studies Program, has been overseeing the building of the U's innovative Brazilian Studies Program. "Brazil is the economic powerhouse of Latin America," says Horn.

The Utah State Board of Education gave preliminary approval for Utah to move ahead in accepting the common core as a framework for setting the state's own standards and curriculum in both English language arts and mathematics. Final approval will likely come during the Board's August 6 meeting.

The Entry Years Enhancement (EYE) is a structured support program for Level 1 educators as they fulfill the requirements for a Level 2 professional license. The Diabloceratops eatoni is a recently discovered fossil record named for WSU paleontologist and professor Jeffrey G. Eaton. Amazingly, it?s the fourth time Eaton has been honored with a fossil record named for him, having previously been immortalized with a marsupial, lizard and a genus trace fossil bearing the Eaton nomenclature.
