SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 3, 2015) - Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Dr. Joseph Kay Miner, M.D., MSPH to lead the Utah Department of Health. Dr. Miner will replace Dr. David Patton who left the executive director position July 31, 2015 to pursue opportunities in the private sector. Dr. Miner's confirmation is subject by the Utah State Senate.

SALT LAKE CITY (August 3, 2015) - Gov. Gary R. Herbert sent a letter to President Barack Obama today strongly urging the president to not use unilateral executive authority to designate a national monument in Utah. Instead, the Governor is encouraging the Obama Administration to pursue an open, public designation process to protect lands in Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY (July 23, 2015) - Utah posted the highest job growth rate in the nation for total and private sector job growth for the fifth consecutive month. According to new data, Utah posted its strongest growth rates of the year last month for total job growth at 4.5 percent and private sector job growth at 5.2 percent.

Moab, Utah (May 22, 2015) - Gov. Gary R. Herbert signed today a water right agreement with the U.S. Department of Interior and Arches National Park. The agreement outlines Arches water rights and removes the possibility of future litigation.
