Jeff Herring, Executive Director Human Resources
Jeff is currently serving as the Executive Director of the State of Utah Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM). His duties as Director include administering a human resource system for the State's 24,000 person workforce. Also, he is responsible for establishing policies and rules that allow the human resources to run smoothly and efficiently within state government.
Jeff was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho and attended the University of Utah where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History.
After college, Jeff attended law school at California Western School of Law in San Diego, California where he received a Juris Doctorate Degree. Jeff has also received a MBA with an emphasis in human resource management from the University of Phoenix.
After law school in San Diego, Jeff and his wife moved back to Utah. He practiced in the private sector with the firms of Young, Kester and Petro in Springville, Utah and The Law Offices of Phillip W. Dyer in Salt Lake City, Utah. In private practice my main focus was in the area of employment law.
Jeff has always desired to assist his fellow citizens and his community and truly enjoys public service. Prior to joining DHRM and State government, Jeff worked at the county level at the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.
Jeff and his wife, DeAnna, have a son, J.D. Jeff and his family enjoy the outdoors and are glad that Utah offers such a magnificent and diverse backdrop for their activities.
