UVU Unveils Plans For New, Legislature-Approved Classroom Building

Utah Valley University officials today released details regarding the $54 million Utah State Legislature-approved classroom building that will give students on the institution’s space-strapped campus some much-needed breathing room. The classroom building was approved by the House and Senate last week at the close of the Legislature’s 2013 session and awaits the signature of Gov. Gary Herbert.

Utah’s new Higher Education Tuition Waiver law, adopted last week, is designed to help keep Utah college enrollment numbers up, countering the recent policy change by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which lowered the minimum missionary age and drew students away from Utah colleges and universities.

NSF Grant to USU Bolsters Distance Education for Aspiring Engineers

At the Governor’s Energy Development Summit, Gov. Gary Herbert and Orrin Hatch awarded Utah State University’s Wireless Power Transfer team the Energy Technology Innovation of the Year award for its work on the Aggie Bus.
The University of Utah School of Dentistry, a public school, will welcome its first class of 20 students this fall. Construction is expected to begin soon on a new dental school building that will be named for a benefactor who donated $30 million for the program.
